- Brooyar this weekend Oct 18 & 19
If you are in need of a lift or can offer someone a lift please contact the committee asap.
The
climbing at Brooyar has a good range of grades and route lengths range
from short to 50m. The climbing is mostly on bolts so bring bolt plates
and runners. a small amount of natural pro is also useful. see qurank
for guides. Camping is at the Glastonbury campground , about a 2
and a half hr drive north of Brisbane. Go thru Gympie and take the
Kilkivan turnoff. a few kms down this road is a signpost on the left to
the campground. it's mostly a dirt road. It's a nice spot and family
friendly (no showers)
It looks like bookings are now required as
there is no registration at the campground. I checked the web site and
it looks like that's the case. If you wish to book you can do so by
phoning 131304 or do it online at http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/find_a_park_or_forest/brooyar_state_forest__camping_information/#gen1
- Acting Treasurer
You
will have seen that Lindy has recently resigned from the committee.
Over the last 18 months or so Lindy has done a great job as Treasurer
and I'd like to thank her for all her efforts. Since we are so
close to the 2008 AGM, Wayne Sutcliffe has agreed to temporarily act
in this role until the AGM when all positions are thrown open - Thanks
Wayne.
- Nov 9 Trip - Where to go?
The committee left an open slot in the trips calendar this year to allow for cancellations or special requests.
The suggestion is that we choose a Sunshine Coast location for this
one, as all three trips north this year were rain cancelled, but we can
go anywhere that sparks enough interest.. If you have a preference for a particular location let us know soon.
- Christmas Party/AGM
A reminder that this year's Christmas Party is on Saturday November 22. As
per usual there will be a very short Annual General Meeting during
this. If you have something you think should be put on the agenda or a
suggestion for something the club should be doing can you email that in
please. This year several current committee members are looking to
resign, so I'm very keen to hear from anyone who is prepared to help
the club out by serving on the committee for a year. These are all
relatively simple roles and it would be great to get representation
from both the current batch of new members and also the experienced
long standing members of the club. There will be more details closer to the event.
- Arapiles Trip Reports (and any others)
Remember that a decent gear prize will be awarded at the Christmas party for the best trip report. At the moment Lindy's a shoe-in . Get writing, ....., not long left now. Also, please send in any photos you have from any BRC Trips. These can be emailed in. Just as an aside, our photo albums now have tags for members!!! see link
- Australian Climbers Association Qld Meeting
If you are interested in access issues and building relationships with
land managers/owners there is a new group meeting this Friday. Check
out this link .
